Burnley vs Preston

Our prediction for this Championship match:

Buoyed by a hard-fought 1-0 win over Plymouth, Burnley will be aiming to give fans yet another reason to celebrate when they face Preston on Matchday 9. The Clarets are seen as one of the main favourites for promotion, but they head into Saturday’s game with a severely-weakened squad. All Beyer, Delcroix, Ekdal, Manuel Hedilazio, Ramsey, Redmond, and Tresor Ndayishimiye are sidelined with injuries, but there are no suspended players in the home team.

The Lilywhites, on the other hand, aim to build on a 3-0 win over Watford, but given their poor away record in the new Championship campaign, we are tempted to put our money on the promotion-chasing hosts. Even though Paul Heckingbottom has a full squad to choose from, we are tempted to put our money on Burnley this time out as they turned their Turf Moor into a real fortress.

How the bookies view it: Clarets red-hot favourites

With Burnley in such good form it’s no surprise to see them at just 11/20 with 777Pub for a win at home. Preston North End are 9/2 outsiders and the draw pays 14/5.

Recent head to head: Not much in it

This derby has been pretty keenly contested in recent years, with the last 13 games producing seven Burnley wins, five Preston victories and just one draw. That stalemate came at Deepdale two seasons ago but the last meeting at Turf Moor was a 3-0 stroll for Burnley.

Burnley vs Preston Prediction

Burnley formidable home record will face a a tough test as they welcome Preston on Saturday.

The Clarets remarkable run continues with a one-nil triumph over Plymouth, stretching their home unbeaten thread to four matches.

On the flip side, Preston returned to winning ways with a 3-0 resounding victory over Watford, snapping their two-match winless run.

Preston is yet to win a league match away from home this season and we predict another tough clash against an unbeaten Burnley team at Turf Moor. Thus, we anticipate a decisive win for the Clarets on Saturday.

The two teams have conceded only one goal in their previous three games, indicating a sturdy defense. We expect a low scoring outcome with under 2.5 seeming like an appealing option to consider.

Players to watch: Josh the job

Midfielder Josh Brownhill has been a key man for Burnley this term and already has four goals to his name. He’s on the penalties for the Clarets and is 12/5 with PHMACAO for anytime scorer.

Preston’s problem has been a lack of goals all season but Mads Frokjaer-Jensen has chipped in with two from midfield. The Dane is 6/1 for another strike at Turf Moor.

Probable line-ups

Burnley still have a long injury list, with Benson Manuel, Nathan Redmond, Mike Tresor, Jordan Beyer, Hannes Delcroix, Aaron Ramsey and Hjalmar Ekdal sidelined.

Milutin Osmajic scored a double for Preston in midweek but could soon be serving a ban after being charged for his alleged bite on Blackburn’s Owen Beck. Preston striker Will Keane picked up an injury last weekend against Millwall and looks set to miss out again.

Burnley: Trafford, Esteve, Egan-Riley, Humphreys, Pires, Brownhill, Anthony, Cullen, Mejbri, Koleosho, Foster.

Preston North End: Woodman, Lindsay, Storey, Hughes, Whiteman, McCann, Holmes, Bowler, Frokjaer-Jensen, Thordason, Riis.
