✅Dortmund go head-to-head against Bochum on Friday. Read our Predictions and Betting Tips with Match Preview, Head-to-head stats (h2h) and Team Form Analysis.
Our prediction for this Bundesliga match:
Borussia Dortmund will look to make amends for a massive 5-1 loss to Stuttgart when they take on Bochum in the Bundesliga round 5. The Yellow-Blacks did suffer the defeat at MHPArena, but their performances was anything but poor. Felix Nmecha has joined Giovanni Reyna in the starting XI, with veteran Emre Can likely to step up. Fit-again striker Serhou Guirassy is widely expected to lead the line for the hosts.
Bochum, on the other hand, made a slow start to the season, with the team collecting only one point in total from possible 12. As Peter Zeidler’s men are not regarded as good travellers, anything but a routine home win would be a big surprise. In their last meeting at Signal-Iduna-Park Borussia Dortmund recorded a routine 3-1 win over Bochum. The likes of Koji Miyoshi, Bernardo, and Ivan Ordets are out of contention through injuries for the visiting team.
How the bookies view it: Dortmund never lose on Friday
Bookmakers give Bochum minimal chances for a positive outcome on Friday. The current odds at 777PUB give us 7/25 for Dortmund, 5/1 for the draw, and 37/4 by JILIMACAO for the underdogs.
Recent head to head: Bochum have been tougher than expected
On rare occasions, Bochum managed to stop Dortmund but the last decade saw them win only once against this opponent. The teams played seven times since Bochum re-joined the Bundesliga in 2021. The Undescendables lost three times, won once, and managed to draw another three times.
Borussia Dortmund vs Bochum Prediction
Borussia Dortmund suffered their first defeat of the season last weekend, falling 1-5 away at Stuttgart.
It was by far the weakest display from Der BVB since Nuri Sahin took charge this summer. It will be very interesting to see how the team will react after allowing nine shots on target and conceding five goals.
Dortmund will have a nice opportunity to bounce back, though. They host strugglers Bochum in the first match of Gameweek No 5 on Friday evening at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK.
Bochum clinched their maiden point of the 2024/25 campaign last weekend, playing a 2-2 stalemate at home to fellow strugglers Holstein Kiel.
It was a match between two teams with zero points from the inaugural three rounds. Both outfits shown numerous flaws in defence but Bochum were certainly the worse of the two sides on the occasion.
Bochum have not been pulling up any trees so far in the season. They’ve been particularly poor defensively of late, shipping two goals in each of the previous three affairs.
The fact they allowed an xG of 2.10 in the home fixture against the likes of Holstein Kiel speaks volumes.
Bochum are now set to face one of the deadliest attacking lines in the German top flight and we can hardly expect anything other but a goal fest.
Furthermore, Borussia will be highly motivated to rebound after a horrendous showing in a 1-5 loss at Stuttgart.
Dortmund also have three wins and two draws in the last five meetings with Bochum to back them up ahead of this tie.
The main bet is Borussia to win by two or more goals difference at the odds of 1.61 while we will also back in-form Karim Adeyemi to score anytime at the 2.40 odds.
Adeyemi notched two goals in a 4-2 victory over Heidenheim in the team’s previous home fixture.
Players to watch: Adeyemi – Guirassy link
Karim Adeyemi was the man of the hour in the previous home match as he scored a brace for the 4:2 win over Heidenheim. Expect him to be on the left wing right next to Guirassy again.
As for the Guinean striker, we expect him to get more chances to score against Bochum than usual. He contributed the only goal against Stuttgart, his former team, but it is a fact that Dortmund barely created anything in the 90+ minutes he spent on the pitch.
Probable line-ups
Borussia Dortmund: Kobel, Schlotterbeck, Sule, Anton, Ryerson, Nmecha, Gross, Adeyemi, Brandt, Sabitzer, Guirassy
Bochum: Drewes, Wittek, Masovic, Medic, Passlack, de Wit, Bero, Sissoko, Daschner, Boadu, Hofmann
