Our prediction for this Premier League match:
Buoyed by back-to-back wins over Bournemouth and West Ham, Chelsea will be aiming to give fans yet another reason to celebrate when they take on Brighton on Matchday 6. Enzo Maresca is doing a great job with the Stamford Bridge outfit and, no doubt, his men are brimming with confidence ahead of Saturday’s clash. Nicolas Jackson should keep his place up front after scoring a brace in the London derby, while all Malo Gusto, Reece James, and Romeo Lavia remain in the recovery room.
The Seagulls, on the other hand, head into the match following a 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest. As Brighton struggled defensively in their last league match, we are tempted to place our bets on Chelsea, who have been showing signs of improvement of late. All James Milner, Matt O’Riley, Brajan Gruda, and Solly March are out of contention with injuries for the visiting team.
How the bookies view it: Blues to clip Seagulls’ wings
Despite failing to win each of their opening two Premier League home games of the season, Chelsea head into their latest Stamford Bridge assignment as odds-on 4/6 favourites with 777PUB.
The bookies odds suggest Brighton will taste defeat for the first time this season on Saturday, with a Seagulls success on offer at 10/3 (JILIPARK) while an all square affair west London is also considered unlikely at 31/10 (777PUB).
Head to head: Blues bidding for four on the bounce
The two teams crossed paths three times last season, with Chelsea emerging victorious on each occasion.
Both Premier League meetings between the pair last term saw Chelsea triumph alongside BTTS and a repeat here can be backed at 19/10 on WJPESO
Chelsea vs Brighton Prediction
Chelsea took over Brighton in 5th place of the Premier League standings after managing their third win in the last four league outings last weekend.
The Blues are only three points below Manchester City at the top of the standings. They demolished city rivals West Ham 3-0 on the road seven days ago.
Nicolas Jackson was the main catalyst for such a convincing victory. He fired two goals and delivered an assist for Cole Palmer’s beautiful strike on the occasion.
Can Enzo Maresca’s men keep such a scintillating form going this weekend in the home tie with Brighton?
The visitors extended their unbeaten thread to five games in the Premier League with a 2-2 home draw to Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
However, such a result did not make the team’s fans happy, especially since it came after a goalless stalemate to Ipswich Town, also at The Amex.
Chelsea will go into the tie in much higher spirits with a run of three wins and a draw in the previous four league fixtures.
They have also done very well in the H2H matches against Brighton in recent years. The Blues managed four wins in the last four clashes with the Seagulls.
On the other side, Brighton are most likely still going to be without the main attacking weapon Joao Pedro who did not start the last two games through injury.
Taking everything into consideration, we have to go for the home win pick at the 1.70 odds as the main betting option.
The value is fantastic with the red-hit Nico Jackson to score anytime at the lucrative 2.75 odds.
Jackson has four goals to his name so far in the season. He completed a brace in the 3-0 thumping of West Ham last Saturday.
Players to watch: Palmer to purr again?
Cole Palmer has registered two goals and four assists across his five Premier League appearances this season, making him a value option for another goal involvement here at 8/11 with PHMACAO.
Danny Welbeck has notched three times in five top-flight outings this term, and he looks overpriced to add to his tally at 10/3 (JILIMACAO).
Predicted line-ups
Christopher Nkunku netted a hat-trick against Barrow in midweek but the French forward may have to settle for a place on the bench against Brighton.
Brighton will make the trip to Stamford Bridge without injured quartet Brajan Gruda, James Milner, Matt O’Riley and Solly March.
Chelsea: Sanchez; Fofana, Adarabioyo, Colwill, Cucurella; Caicedo, Fernandez; Madueke, Palmer, Sancho; Jackson
Brighton: Verbruggen; Veltman, Dunk, Van Hecke, Hinshelwood; Baleba, Ayari; Adingra, Rutter, Mitoma; Welbeck
