Roma vs Venezia

Our prediction for this Serie A match:

Following a routine 3-0 win over Udinese, AS Roma will look to give fans yet another reason to celebrate when they take on Venezia in the Serie A round 6. The weekend triumph gave Giallorossi a confidence boost, but I Lagunari should not be written off just yet. A man to keep an eye on in the home team will be Artem Dovbyk, who broke the deadlock against the Zebrette, while both Alexis Saelemaekers and Enzo Le Fee continue to miss out with injuries.

Venezia, on the other hand, desperately needed a win against Genoa and they managed to get one. The newcomers, though, have been struggling on the travels in the new Serie A campaign and given their poor defensive performance in a 4-0 loss at Milan, anything but a routine home win would be a big surprise. Steinn Bjarkason remains in the recovery room, while both Alfred Duncan and Giorgio Altare are major doubts and the duo will be assessed ahead of the kick-off.

How the bookies view it: Roma highly fancied

Roma have been installed as overwhelming favourites among the bookies and are priced at 2/5 by 777PUB to claim the win. A victory for Venezia is valued at 7/1 by WJPESO, who is also offering odds of 18/5 for a draw.

Head to head: Roma with the edge

Roma have a 4-2 edge with two draws from eight previous matches against Venezia. However, the capital club failed to secure a win the last time Venezia were in the topflight back in 2021-22, losing 3-2 in the first meeting before a 1-1 draw at the Stadio Olimpico.

Roma vs Venezia Prediction

Ivan Juric got off to a dream start to his reign in the Italian capital. The Croatian manager took Roma to a 3-0 drubbing of then-leaders Udinese last weekend.

It was by far Roma’s best showing of the season. La Lupa were dominant from the first to the final minute of the affair, registering eight shots on target on the occasion.

Artem Dovbyk, Paulo Dybala, and substitute Tommaso Baldanzi were on target for the Romans.

The Giallorossi will be looking to back this win up on Sunday afternoon. They play host to newly-promoted Venezia at Stadio Olimpico.

Venezia will also come into this on a high after snatching their maiden win of the campaign in the previous round.

They dispatched Genoa 2-0 in front of the home crowd. It was a magnificent all-around performance from Eusebio Di Francesco’s men.

Gianluca Busio and Joel Pohjanpalo were on target in a match in which Venezia limited Genoa to zero shots on goal.

Venezia did grab their inaugural win of the campaign last weekend but they are now set to face the revamped Roma side away from home.

Venezia have two wins and a draw in the first three away fixtures of the campaign. They had scored only once in the opening four rounds of the season before netting twice last weekend against Genoa.

Nevertheless, we can see Venezia struggling to perform here against Roma who looked as lively as ever in a 3-0 thumping of Udinese under new manager Ivan Juric.

Roma also have tradition to back them up in this matchup. They won three and drew one of the previous four home clashes against Venezia with a 9-1 goal difference in the process.

The main pick is Roma to have the lead at the half time and win the match at the end at the 2.10 odds while you can also get the 1.90 odds for Artem Dovbyk to score anytime.

The former Girona forward got his second goal of the season in a 3-0 win over Udinese seven days ago.

Player to watch: Dovbyk finding form

A major positive for Roma in recent weeks is summer signing Artem Dovbyk, who is slowly regaining his form in front of goal. The Ukrainian striker has been on target in his last three matches across all competitions and is priced at 23/20 by PHMACAO to maintain his scoring run.

Having earned a shutout last time out in Serie A, Roma will be targeting a repeat on Sunday. Evan Ndicka has been a regular at the back for the capital club and can lead the team to a clean sheet at evens with JILIPARK.

Probable line-ups

Roma will be without Lorenzo Pellegrini, Enzo Le Fee and Alexis Saelemaekers, who are all sidelined with injury. Dovbyk and Paulo Dybala should continue in attack after both men got on the score sheet in the win over Venezia.

Venezia also have injuries of their own with Alfred Duncan and Giorgio Altare both sidelined. They are likely to stick with the team that earned their first win of the season with Pohjanpalo leading the line while Michael Svoboda should continue in defence.

Roma: Svilar, Hermoso, Ndicka, Mancini, Angelino, Paredes, Kone, Cristante, Celik, Dybala, Dovbyk
Venezia: Joronen, Idzes, Svoboda, Candela, Haps, Busio, Kofod Andersen, Ellertson, Zampano, Oristanio, Pohjanpalo
